Early detection of Alzheimer's disease with a blood test

At Florentis Health, we offer a panel of blood tests which are cutting edge in early disease detection

Nerve cells release NfL into the bloodstream when they are damaged. Elevated levels can indicate ongoing injury to brain cells and are associated with a range of neurological conditions, making it a useful marker of overall brain health.

GFAP is released when the brain's support cells (astrocytes) become activated. Elevated levels can be an early sign of inflammation and stress within the brain and have been linked to the earliest stages of Alzheimer's disease.

Until recently, detecting Alzheimer's pathology required a PET scan or a lumbar puncture. Today, a simple blood test can identify Alzheimer's-related changes with approximately 90% accuracy compared with amyloid PET imaging.
